Whippets

This is the Whips section for children from 7 to 12 years of age and all children between these ages are welcome to join. A lively and fun musical production with plenty of singing and dancing numbers is undertaken each year with rehearsals starting in September and show week taking place the following March. The Whippets offers the following:

• Every child who commits to the rehearsals and performance will automatically have a part in the chorus for which there are no auditions. Older children will have the opportunity to audition for speaking parts;

• The performances take place on the stage of the West Horsley Village Hall giving children the excitement of participating in a fully staged show in front of a live audience. Not only is this great fun for the children but it also increases their confidence enormously;

• An opportunity for children from different schools and backgrounds to meet other like-minded children.

The rehearsals take place every Saturday morning during the rehearsal period (with a short break for Christmas) although not every child will be required every week. There is a subscription which varies from year to year. This covers insurance, hall hire, royalties, costumes, musicians etc. As the show is produced entirely by volunteers, all parents will be expected to get involved in helping the production in some way.

Young Whips

This is the Whips section for young people from 13 to 17 years of age. The Young Whips rehearse and perform their own dramatic performance every two years and are invited to get involved with the Whips pantomime in the intervening years. New members are always welcome.
